Holistic Birth Institute

Tokology: The art and science of midwifery. It's what we teach.

Holistic Birth Institute provides of midwifery education and training for aspiring Certified Professional Midwives working through the North American Registry of Midwives Portfolio Application Process. We support the apprenticeship model of learning and proudly guide our student midwives through the knowledge, skills and clinical requirements of the NARM PEP process. We host classes, teach skills, and offer clinical opportunities through apprenticeship with practicing midwife preceptors.

We teach both Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula classes and offer a Doula Certification program.

Our Birth Assistant pathway is designed for those who want to assist midwives at home births.

Most of the classes are now offered online! Occasionally we will have an in-person class. Please contact us if you have questions about distance learning and in-person skills before you sign up for the class!

We are continually uploading new classes and new content, with the goal of keeping our classes up-to-date with the most recent research and publications

TESTIMONIALS

Don't just take our word for it

This class has already been super helpful in explaining things I was completely lost in! Thank you for all you have put in!
I really have enjoyed the way you teach the classes, it’s very straightforward and in understandable language. I had terrible anxiety about writing these documents before becoming a Midwife (hopefully next fall) but you have broken it down in segments that make each document clear. There is still a lot of work to do with them, but it’s definitely more manageable and less stressful then when I first started!
Thank you for all your effort in teaching the class. It definitely helped me update my informed consents and guidelines. I learned a lot. I appreciate all your insight.
